May 28th at 7:00pm in Filene Auditorium

The DPU, in partnership with the Dartmouth Student Alliance for Ukraine, is honored to host Ambassador Oksana Marakova of Ukraine for a conversation discussing the ongoing war in Ukraine, the geopolitical landscape of Eastern Europe, and the global implications of the Russian invasion. Ambassador Marakova will share insights into Ukraine’s resilience, the nation’s path to recovery, and the importance of international support in the fight for sovereignty and democratic values.

Ambassador Oksana Markarova has served as Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, representing her country in critical discussions on diplomacy, security, and international relations. Before her diplomatic appointment, she served in Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance from 2015 to 2020, first as First Deputy Minister and Government Commissioner on Investments, then as Minister of Finance from 2018. She played a key role in Ukraine’s macroeconomic policies, fiscal consolidation, and international financial agreements, including negotiations with the IMF. Markarova also helped establish UkraineInvest, the Ukrainian Startup Fund, and government transparency initiatives such as spending.gov.ua. After joining the diplomatic corps in 2021, she has played a key role in strengthening Ukraine’s relations with the U.S. and advocating for global support in response to Russian aggression.

The debate will be live-streamed and recorded at dartgo.org/markarova.
